Why Did You Choose Your Major (Final)

I major in Business Administration (BA). There are several reasons why I chose my major. In fact, I do not think that I chose my major because I was interested in business administration. On account of external factors rather than my interest, I made up my mind to select business administration as my major at that time. I will explain my motives in detail as follows.

First, I obeyed my parents’ suggestions and desires so as not to make them disappointed. This is the chief cause that I chose my major. Both my parents expected me to study in business administration; hence, I followed their anticipation instead of insisting on my opinions. As a matter of fact, I believe that my parents’ decisions as well as advices are good for me. They own more job experiences than I do. They realized the situation of workplace deeply; on the contrary, I know little about the workplace of the society. I think that they made the decision for the sake of my welfare. They hoped that I could face less difficulty in the future.

Secondly, I also considered what my job will be in the future. According to many people’s suggestions, those whose major are business administration might have more job opportunities. For example, they could work in banks, enterprises or government organizations. In addition, they can also be professors in the BA departments in colleges. There are a large number of choices for BA majors in spite that there are a great number of competitors. Although I have no confidence in myself to compete with those whose major are the same as mine, I will try my best to strengthen my competitive ability.
